True Leadership from the Greatest Leader

True Leadership from the Greatest Leader, by Gregory A. Johnson

Books abound on the subject of leadership. Volumes have been written. Seminars, lectures, and course studies are everywhere, including the church.

Everyone wants to be a great leader, whether it is in the home, workplace, schoolhouse, marketplace, or church house. People look for success in current leaders and in leaders throughout history, yet there seems to be a huge vacuum of true leadership today. Where in the world are all the true leaders?

You can save yourself the time and money you might have been planning to spend on the next great leadership seminar, class, or book because it is a simple concept: True leadership means to serve!

Jesus Christ is the greatest leader that has ever walked this earth. If we follow Him, we will be good leaders. What did He do? He left the riches of glory to come into our poor world to serve a lost and dying humanity. Jesus served. We are left with no greater picture of this than when Jesus took up the towel and washed dirty, stinky, nasty, un-cared-for feet. That is true leadership from The Greatest Leader.

Beloved, take up the towel and follow Jesus in serving someone today and every day. As you serve our LORD, you will become a great leader to those you are serving.

SCRIPTURE:
“Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him” (John 13:5).

PRAYER:
Jesus, I thank you for coming into my world. You are the greatest leader that has ever walked this earth. Thank you for showing me that true leadership is all about serving humanity. Help me to not miss an opportunity to serve someone today as I serve you. The opportunities will be there; give me eyes to see them. Increase my desire to follow you by taking up the towel and serving others. Amen.
